Today, Judge Richard M. Gergel, a federal judge in the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina, held a hearing regarding the class action lawsuit settlement agreement reached between Tyco and individuals who live in the Town of Peshtigo whose property may have been affected by the presence of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) from Tyco’s Fire Technology Center (FTC). The judge noted that Tyco’s efforts to resolve PFAS issues in our community has been commendable and indicated that he will be issuing a decision soon. We are optimistic that the court will approve the settlement.
Tyco recognizes how important these issues are to our community. This settlement agreement does not affect or change Tyco’s ongoing initiatives to remediate PFAS from the FTC in the Marinette/Peshtigo area to ensure our neighbors have clean and safe water, including our commitment to fund a new water line to permanently provide clean drinking water to impacted residents in the Town of Peshtigo. We are working with the Town of Peshtigo and the City of Marinette to finalize the installation of this solution. To ensure clean drinking water in the interim, we have provided bottled water and/or well point-of-entry systems for impacted households. Tyco will provide further updates as this work progresses and as the settlement agreement moves forward.
