GETS Construction Starts Along Pierce Ave.

Southeast entrance to Marinette High School closed starting Tuesday, Jan. 11

The last phase of construction along Pierce Ave. is scheduled to start this Wednesday January 12 on Marinette High School property and within the City right-of-way.  A large rig will be horizontally drilling to install conveyance piping between a junction vault to be installed on the southeast corner of High School property, south to the extraction well (EX-8) located near the water tower, and north to the GETS outfall northeast of the High School where treated water will be discharged into Ditch B. All work is dependent on weather.

This work will require the temporary closure of the southern-most entrance/exit to the High School parking lots starting Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2022. Entrance to the parking lots will be open on Cleveland Ave. and the circular driveway/traffic loop in front of the High School will remain open. Although there will not be any lane closures on Pierce, drivers should expect truck traffic in the area for at least 3 weeks. Safety is our top priority, and we have been communicating with the School to ensure student safety and minimize disruptions.

To learn more about this process and GETS Construction progress, we invite you to join our biweekly office hours. The next session is January 12, 2022.
