May Community Letter

We hope that you and your loved ones remain safe and healthy while so much uncertainty exists in the world right now. We know you might have other things on your mind, but we want to continue to communicate with you about our remediation efforts.

In April, we notified homeowners of the results of their wells tested near the 61 fields where Marinette and Peshtigo Wastewater Treatment Facilities previously spread biosolids. The vast majority of wells tested showed little or no presence of PFAS. We provided this information to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR) and voluntarily provided bottled water to the handful of residences where PFAS was detected above Wisconsin’s advisory standard.

In March, we made the decision to suspend this testing due to health concerns associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, in order to protect our field workers, as well as residents whose homes our technicians have to enter to conduct testing. We plan to resume testing in early June.

We also worked with the Marinette City Council on a newly approved agreement to reimburse the City up to $75,000 for an independent study examining municipal water supply options. View the full May letter here.
